Mother of the Bride

Mother of the Bride

The mother of the bride (MOB) will have all eyes on her as she makes her way down the aisle on the wedding day.

All eyes on you= pressure!

Although it is the bride’s moment to shine as she walks down the aisle, it is important for the second most special woman there to look her very best as well! Mothers of the bride should be dressed to impress in a tasteful and classic way. MOB dresses can be tricky, so it is important to stay true to what the MOB wants, but most importantly what the bride wants since it is her day.

  •  It is proper etiquette to let the groom’s mother know that you have found your dress, as well as letting her know how formal it is and the details of the dress.
  • Traditionally, the mother of the bride dress should be in a subtle color. The mother should stay away from white or ivory, black (it suggests mourning), and red (can appear too flashy). Although these can be worn beautifully and tastefully, it is important to first talk with the bride to see if she has any input on the colors.
  • The mother of the bride does not need to match the bridesmaid’s dresses. However, if the bride would like all the colors to coordinate, then the mother of the bride can wear a color in the same family as the bridesmaid dress colors.
  • It’s important to communicate with the bride to understand what she has in mind as far as the MOB dress.
