Five Options for Bright Smiles!

Five Options for Bright Smiles!

A lot of brides view their wedding day as the opportunity to revamp their style and give themselves a mini-makeover. One of those small details often includes teeth-whitening, the increasingly popular beautification process of turning those lackluster smiles into fabulously happy grins 🙂

We’ve done a little research and determined there are generally five main paths you can take to refurbish your pearly whites:

1. Whitening toothpaste:

– Mildly abrasive and do not contain bleach

– Cheapest and most hassle-free option

– On average, will whiten your teeth by one shade

2. Over-the-Counter Whitening Strips or Gels:

– Peroxide-based

– A little bit pricier, but does not require going to a dentist

– Requires twice-a-day care performed outside of the usual brush/floss routine

– Results seen within days and last about four months

3. Whitening Rinses:

– Contain hydrogen peroxide

– Just swish for 60 seconds, twice a day

– May take up to 12 weeks to see results

– Some debate about effectiveness versus over-the-counter strips and gels, less contact-time with teeth = less whitening

4. Tray-Based Tooth Whiteners:

– Can be purchased over-the-counter or from a dentist, definitely more expensive

– Contains peroxide-bleaching agent

– Requires wearing a mouth guard-like tray for several hours each day for up to four weeks

5. In-Office Whitening:

– Quickest and most expensive option

– Whitening product is applied directly to teeth, sometimes in combination with heat and/or laser

– Immediate results

– For most dramatic results, you would want to make several appointments

While we have not personally tried all of these options, we would love to hear from you about your experiences! If you have tried any of these methods, leave us a comment and let us know how it went!
