29 Apr Fabulous Fashion From The Royal Wedding
Top of the morning to ya! FINALLY…the moment you’ve all been waiting for (or at least everyone in our office has!)…the GOWN. Smiling from ear to ear, Princess Catherine was the essence of calm as walked down the aisle wearing a stunning ivory and satin Alexander McQueen gown designed by Sarah Burton with lace appliqué bodice. The 9ft train flowed from a skirt echoing an opening flower, with white satin gazar arches and pleats. The elaborate dress (also known as the best kept secret in fashion history) was made with individual flowers were hand-cut from lace and hand-engineered onto ivory silk tulle to create a unique and organic design – which incorporates the rose, thistle, daffodil and shamrock. Her veil is made of layers of soft, ivory silk tulle with a trim of hand-embroidered flowers. The bride carried a simple lily of the valley bouquet. Accessorized with a diamond Cartier Halo tiara (lent to her by the Queen!) and a pair of pear-shaped diamond earrings, Catherine wore her hair down in her signature loose waves. Her price (who rolled up in a handsome black Bentley) looked dashing in a resplendent red tunic of the Irish Guards. The mother-of-the-bride Carole Middleton, wore a lovely sky-blue ‘Sydney’ day dress by Catherine Walker, who was also a favorite designer of Princess Diana. Kate’s sister and Maid of Honor, Pippa Middleton also wore a custom ivory gown by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen. The crepe cowl front dress had the same button detail and lace trim as the bride’s beautiful gown. Pippa wore floral diamond earrings and a coordinating headpiece that were made for her by the same jeweler, Robinson Pelham, who also designed Kate’s earrings. Father of the groom, Prince Charles, wore Royal Navy attire while the Duchess of Cornwall (Camilla Parker Bowles Parker) sported an Anna Valentine, champagne silk with a hand-embroidered coat dress for the royal wedding. And her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, donned a yellow primrose Angela Kelly dress and matching crepe hat adorned with silk roses. This truly was THE wedding of the century and the fashion was spectacular and well worth the wait!
