29 Oct An Urban Greenhouse Wedding Celebration at The GrowHaus | Denver
I had the honor of planning a wedding celebration this past August for one super cool couple. Kaye and Matt tied the knot in a magical setting in the mountains this summer and then hired moi to help them throw one helluva wedding celebration for their family and friends in Denver. The setting for the party was The GrowHaus, a nonprofit indoor farm, marketplace and educational center in Denver’s Elyria-Swansea neighborhood. The vibe was an eclectic mix of urban garden meets eco-chic. We worked with Denver based photographer Shea Hennessy who captured the event flawlessly…keep scrolling and you’ll see what I mean.
The inspiration for the party was the unique venue itself. Sustainability and greenery would be our canvas. Our color palette was the natural shades of green, paired with neutrals, accented with navy. We created a plethora of cacti plants planted in glass lanterns as the centerpieces (stay tuned for a future post on the do’s and don’t of working with cacti…ouch.) and then weaved in white candles, layered with terra cotta saucers and wood slices.
Attached to The GrowHaus is the Mercado de al Lado, so we wanted to tie in Hispanic culture and did so using fiesta white Papel Picado banners, and through a delicious menu featuring a taco bar, and a churro/sopapilla station which was catered by La Loma.
My all-time favorite detail of this wedding celebration was the calligraphy signage provided by Handsome Love Calligraphy. We surprised the bride with this beautiful sign featuring a poem titled “I Carry Your Heart” by E.E. Cummings.
Thank you, Kaye and Matt, for trusting me with your special wedding celebration and to the incredible team of wedding pros who helped make it a flawless night to remember!
